Milden’s Presbyterian Women
The PW Purpose – Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves
•to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
•to support the mission of the church worldwide
•to work for justice and peace
•to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthen the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
The Milden Circle meets on the first Thursday of every month September through May at 10:00 a.m. at members’ homes. This year we will be studying Adam Hamilton’s “Peter”.
Milden PW identify needs in the community and seek ways to meet them. We provide dinner to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Northern Neck – Middlesex Free Health Clinic twice a year. We fill welcome kits for the new residents at the Haven. We provide food bags for the elderly chosen by the Richmond County Department of Social Services. Every year, our circle sponsors a family through the WRAR Christmas Wishes program. We sponsor several children through the YMCA’s Bright Beginnings back to school program. In the past we have supplied hygiene kits for Church World Service and made veterans’ blankets for Hospice. We work with the Salvation Army during the Christmas campaign and support the Christmas breakfast for each family. In addition to working locally, Milden’s Presbyterian Women contribute generously to the Fellowship of the Least Coin. This program, established in 1957, requests that participants accompany their prayer with the least coin of their cultures. Our circle also contributes to the PW (USA) Birthday and Thank Offerings.
